Hardi International

Global purchasing power ensures significantly improved transport agreements.

Can you reduce transport costs and get the same service and quality? To answer the question, Hardi International, in collaboration with TransportRådgiverne, chose to utilize its total purchasing power in six countries. The success is noticeable.

Hardi International contributes to feed the World by producing agricultural machinery used in crop production worldwide. The company’s transport activities are thus extensive; They extend across many national borders, include all modes of transport by land, sea, and air, and range from small spareparts to heavy special transports. For this reason, transport costs and precision in deliveries are crucial competitive parameters.

TransportRådgiverne was selected to optimize the company’s transport agreements in Denmark, Germany, France, Spain, USA and Australia. The result was a new structure around the transport agreements, a new mix of transport providers and not least, significant savings that strengthen competitiveness – also during a pandemic.

From skepticism to learning
It was precisely the potential of the increased competitiveness that made Hardi International go for a second opinion. The company has a tradition of entering local agreements and managing all tenders on its own, which is why, despite great trust in TransportRådgiverne, there was a natural skepticism about whether others from outside could handle the task. Morten Eriksen, Vice President Global Production & Supply Chain:

TransportRådgivnere can really do something professional. We have learned a lot from the collaboration, just as I am sure that our comprehensive global footprint has given them new knowledge.”

The process behind the success
TransportRådgiverne started in the summer of 2019. From the beginning, the task was clarified, requirements and clear goals were set, just as both partners suggested potential partners. TransportRådgiverne visited all the European sites used by Hardi International and collected and structured large amounts of data before the final tenders were prepared and approved.

Due to the many international parties in the process, the contract negotiations took longer than expected, but TransportRådgiverne must be highly praised for pushing on, so we crossed the finish line.

Competitiveness during COVID-19
In the last part of the process, COVID-19 came and changed the world from one moment to the another. It presented a string of challenges, but in terms of TransportRådgiverne’s guarantee agreement, the team helped again and found the necessary solutions. This means that Hardi International continues to reap the benefits of having used its total global purchasing power to optimize transport agreements. Morten Eriksen says:

We have achieved higher savings than expected without compromising the quality of the transport solutions. TransportRådgiverne are very proficient and we are very satisfied.”
